Instructions for jacket reproofing at home:

1. At first, clean the jacket. Barbour jackets are cleaned with a soft wet fabric. But water must be mild in room temperature.

2. Excess water should be squeezed out from the cloth.

3. Washing it in the machine or putting it to the dry cleaner results in permanent damage.

4. Now buy a can of wax that suits the jacket type. Uncover the can and let it boil in the water in such a way that it floats in the water but water does not get inside the can of wax.

5. Take an old tee shirt or any soft clothing item. Dab a bit warm wax with it and apply lightly in all over the jacket. Do not forget to maintain a singular motion. The coat of the wax should be even everywhere.

6. Take special care of the cringed areas and cuffs, seams etc. Do not apply wax on any part of the jacket that was not waxed earlier. Leave the lining and collar.

7. Do not let the jacket touch anything that might become sticky. So, hang the jacket straight.

8. After a little interval lay the jacket over a newspaper. It will absorb the extra wax without creating a mess.  Now, use a blow drier to dry it.

When all is done the Barbour jacket must be left to rest so that the wax can comfortably settle down on the jacket. Thus, a fuss free reproofing at home is recommended for jacket lovers to save additional money.
